Resource Allocation Algorithms for GPRS Network Performance Improvement During Congested Periods

چکیده

The evolution of European mobile communication systems towards the third generation (3G) is based on GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) [1]. A first step in the evolution is the General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) [2], [3], which truly supports packet switched data services. Our goal is to investigate the efficiency of different algorithms used for resource allocation in data transfer over GPRS networks, especially during the congested periods, in order to ensure high throughput and to provide Quality of Service (QoS) in GPRS networks.
